What’s Happening at St. Peter’s
The 2nd Annual Pumpkin Fest will be held on Saturday, October 3rd from 9-3 p.m. and Sunday, October 4th from 12-4 p.m. At 2 p.m. on Sunday October 4th we will hold the annual Blessing of the Animals service to celebrate St. Francis of Assisi patron saint of animals on his special day. Bring your animals, large and small, to this lovely service in the Memorial Garden at Saint Peter’s. We will also be collecting pet related items (cat food, dog food, litter, towels, etc.) to be donated to local animal shelters. If anyone would like to have a pet’s ashes interred in the memorial garden in the section devoted to animals, please bring them at that time and Fr. Perry will be happy to commemorate and bless them as well.

St. Peter’s has a new website!
Same location, great new look. The new site offers an always up to date calendar, upcoming events listed with details, news from Sue, the bulletin, the latest happenings, an updated photo gallery, and more! All with a sharp new design that looks great on a desktop computer, tablet, or smart phone.
Memorial Garden — Group Weeding!!– The Weekly Weeders are hard at work keeping the weeds at bay in the Memorial Garden and around the church. Come join us! We meet every Monday evening from 6:30 to 7:20. We do what we can in 50 minutes and close up shop at 7:30. Then we usually stick around and chat for a while – very nice! Bring your gardening gloves and whatever tools you normally use to weed like clippers, trowels, scratchers, rakes, etc., as well as a hat and bug spray. We have extra tools if you need them. It’s a nice way to get outside, visit with friends, and keep our garden looking beautiful!

Outreach
IRIS donation -The Director of IRIS Integrated Refugee & Immigrant Services, Chris George has called St. Peter’s office to thank the St. Peters parishioners for the generous donation made to IRIS. He was extremely grateful for the parish’s gift and as he said “A little money goes a long way in these types of organizations, and a lot of money goes even further!” He said it “made their day” when they received the check from St. Peter’s. Many, any thanks to you all.
Community Events
Foodshare has registered 12 families in our local area who are eager to participate in their nationally acclaimed program “Getting Ahead: Bridges Out of Poverty Program.” To make the program work, 12 volunteers are needed to serve as mentors and cheerleaders for these families as they work to reach the goals they have set for themselves. A GETTING AHEAD VOLUNTEER INFORMATIONAL MEETING will be held on Thursday, October 1st at 7 pm in the AHM Youth & Family Services Building, 25 Pendleton Drive, Hebron. A brief overview of the program and volunteer commitment will be explained. Questions regarding the program will also be answered. If you would be interested in this volunteer opportunity to make a difference in someone’s future, please call the St. Peter’s office.
